Born and bred a Cumbrian Farmer’s daughter, Tracey Errington is a down to earth practical sort of girl, with bags of common sense and over a quarter of a century experience in marketing.
After milking cows and lambing sheep I studied for a degree in Marketing and Behaviour in Organisations – and became inspired by marketing. After working in a large ad agency in Manchester I moved north and earned my stripes in direct marketing and general management. This combination made a huge difference, it taught me bags about running a business and I developed my own ‘marketing mix’.
Setting up a Marketing and Business Development Consultancy in 2004 ‘Market Sense’ was born – I call it grass roots marketing. From a bit of strategic thinking, planning campaigns and creating brands, to copywriting, photography and event management, I seem to have covered quite a bit!
What’s also great is that I’ve been fortunate to work across a wide range of sectors, clients range from national retailers and local food producers to hotels, family attractions and specialist manufacturers. I have been lucky enough to work with some great businesses in and around Cumbria.
A reputation for inspiring ideas and practical marketing support – we’ve helped award winning businesses do even better things – and I’m proud to say I work with clients who supply Booth’s, Sainsbury’s, McDonald’s, Tesco’s and the odd artisan coffee house in London.
Happily for Market Sense (and clients), it seems I’m well connected. Being part of a farming community helps, but it’s the business contacts made over the last 15 years that are invaluable. The result: we call on great partners who share similar and complementary skills and know where to find the unique specialists you need.
